tcu students travel to Austin for acl
Many TCU students headed south over the weekend to listen to music and soak up the sun together at Austin City Limits.
Students who attended the festival said that attending with other TCU students is an experience unlike any other.
The festival is a 3-day event that is held for two weekends in Austin, Texas. It includes concerts at all times of the day and into the night.
“We woke up every day around 11 a.m. and got to Zilker around 1:30 p.m. and we stayed all day until the headliner was over,” said junior business major, Jim Brazeal.
“It was awesome because I met people from TCU that I had never met on campus and we got to all hangout and socialize while listening to our favorite artists in one of the coolest cities in the country,” said Alex Paredes, a junior business major and Austin native.
Many students said that attending the festival with other students is something they will do again in the future.
“I really loved the lineup they had for this year, but mostly I decided to go to ACL because I knew how fun the atmosphere was going to be with all the TCU students attending,” said Paredes.
“Attending a music festival with other TCU students made it even more enjoyable because I got to share the experience with my friends and it was nice to see familiar faces within the massive crowds of people,” said junior strategic communications major, Paige Krieger.
This year’s lineup included a variety of popular artist like Drake, A$AP, The Weeknd, WALK THE MOON, and Hozier, which drew large crowds at each show.
“My favorite part of this music festival was the performers and the wide variety of music genres that they played. I really liked how I could go from a rap concert to an alternative one within a matter of minutes,” said Krieger.
“I love hearing the diversity of music and being able to see so many artists in a short amount of time,” said sophomore business major, Carter Reed.
Students originally from Austin said that attending ACL is a tradition they plan to continue in the future.
“My entire group of friends all buy the ‘early bird’ passes every year, which is buying a ticket before the lineup is even released for the upcoming year,” said Paredes. “We trusted that ACL would be a blast every year and that still stands true after seven years.”
“I have attended ACL for the past five years and have enjoyed every year I have gone,” Reed said. “I really enjoyed going with the friends I have made in college; It’s a feeling that I am really glad I‘ve been able to experience.”
